You must know how many chemicals are there in store bought deodorant which can not only can cause some skin issues but in fact have known to cause internal disease which are hard to diagnose. On top of them is inflammation. However it doesn't mean you must smell bad and have body odor whole day. You can make your own deodorant easily and with ingredients, most probably laying around in kitchen.
You can also choose your own fragrance for this homemade deodorant with choosing different essential oils. However you must include grapefruit oil and tea tree oil as they are essential to making the deodorant effective. Bacteria and microbes thrive in a damp and dark environment, and they are the cause of the unpleasant smell of body odor. Grapefruit neutralizes bacteria while tea tree oil and coconut oil, eliminates microbes, effectively destroying their ability to create that unpleasant smell. The combination of
arrowroot powder and cornstarch helps the deodorant work as an antiperspirant.
- ⅓ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup baking soda
- ¼ cup arrowroot powder
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon grapefruit juice
- 3 drops of tea tree oil
- 5 drops of grapefruit oil
- A combination of three other essential oils of your choice
- Empty roll-on deodorant container
Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Now measure the coconut oil, it doesn't matter if it is hard or melted. If it is melted pour it in dry ingredients and mix them well together. If the coconut oil is hard the mix it with fork in dry ingredients.
Once they are well combined add essential oils and mix well. Now start adding juice slowly until you reach your desired consistency.
When every thing is combined pour this mixture into roll-on deodorant container. Keep in a cool place.
When you want to use it, apply it as you do any other roll on deodorant.
